PRESSURE GROUP ATTEMPTS TO HAVE ROACCUTANE BANNED IN THE UK

A self-appointed pressure group called the Roaccutane Action Group has had a meeting with the Medicines Control Agency (the UK body responsible for licencing medicines) in an attempt to have Roaccutane banned.

The meeting took place on 17th May. The background is that because of the small numbers of suicides alleged to be related to accutane/roaccutane and the possibility of depression, the RAG is trying to have this done.

There are very serious issues here: the opportunity for an acne sufferer to have the drug of his or her choice. And the freedom of your doctor to prescribe the medication he/she believes is right for the patient.
All medical procedures carry a risk, and even if the link between Roacc and suicide is proven, WHICH IT IS NOT, then there are still issues about whether patients would want to take the risk. If the RAG succeed then Roaccutane will not be allowed to be prescribed in the UK

If you have strong feelings about this particularly if you disagree with the idea that Roaccutane should be banned you should contact The Medicines Control Agency ASAP!!!!!!!!!
